Fish sludge, also known as fish sludge, is produced as a byproduct in fish processing plants or aquaculture facilities. It is a mixture of fish waste, fish excrement, unsellable fish parts such as heads, entrails, scales, and bones, as well as other organic materials.
These wastes are collected and typically need to be disposed of at great expense.
The largest freshwater fish production facility in Calgary, Canada has decided to take an entirely new approach. Three combined heat and power plants (CHP) supply the production with electricity. The exhaust gases from the CHP units serve as an energy source for the new jumbo drying and pelleting plant.
The fish sludge is first dewatered to 25% dry matter using a dewatering screw and then dried in the speed rotation dryer. The drying process is immediately followed by our ZRP250 pelletizer.
